Kilohana Preschool was established in 1966 under the direction of a Board of Directors appointed by Kilohana united Methodist Church.  It is a non-denominational, not-for-profit school established as an educational service to the communities from Hawaii Kai to Kahala.
We believe that each child brings to the early childhood center his/her own experiencees and strengths.  Believing that the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual development of each child is interrelated, we have formulated the following goals-
  • To provide a nuturing, relaxed and secure enviornment where self-concepts are enhanced, independence encouraged, free choice decisions offered, social sklls acquired and individuality respected.
  • To encourage each child to develop a positive self-image and a positive attitude toward school.
  • To provide opportunities to develop gross motor skills and coordination through physically active play.
  • To assist the child in developing good expressive and receptive language skills, sensory perceptual skills, fine motor skills and the skills necessary for effective interpersonal relationships.
  • To work  in harmony with parents to provide supportive services if needed
Kilohana Preschool is licensed by the Child Care Licensing Division of Hawaii, Department of Human Services
